Installation Steps
Download and unzip
Click the button above to download the .zip file. Once downloaded, unzip it to a permanent folder on your computer — for example ~/extensions/sidermem. Chrome loads from this folder every time, so don't move or delete it after installing.
⚠️ Chrome cannot install a .zip file directly — even in developer mode. You must unzip first and load the resulting folder.
Open Chrome Extensions
In Chrome, open the Extensions page using one of these methods:
Type chrome://extensions in the address bar and press Enter
Click the ⋮ menu → Extensions → Manage Extensions
Enable Developer Mode
In the top-right corner of the Extensions page, toggle on Developer mode. This unlocks the ability to install extensions from local files.
The toggle is in the top-right corner of the page. Once enabled, three new buttons will appear at the top left.
Load unpacked extension
Click Load unpacked and select the folder you unzipped in Step 1. Do not select the .zip file — select the folder that was created after unzipping.
Pin and open SiderMem
SiderMem will appear in your extensions list. Click the puzzle piece icon in the Chrome toolbar, find SiderMem, and click the pin icon to keep it visible. Then click the SiderMem icon to open the side panel.
Good to know
- • Chrome may show a warning that developer mode extensions are installed — this is normal and expected.
- • The extension will not auto-update. Check this page for new builds when updates are available.
- • To update: download the new zip, replace the folder contents, then click Update on the Extensions page.
